As a teenage boy I discovered the joy of working with wood. It was then that I organized my first wood shop. I was never out of touch with wood working through college and teaching career. I work with wood on a lathe. Woods from Africa, Central and South America, are very exotic, unique and fascinating in color and design. I am using a segmented method to form pieces that require very precise cutting to length and angle. Then there's the gluing and clamping tasks required in assembly before turning on a lathe and shaping. However the extra work is very worthwhile.
